What can I say about Steel Princess that makes it different from Deviant King...besides it being the same but with a little extra "Filler".

𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨:
Elsa has just found out that her parents are responsible for Aiden's mother's death and in a haze fell (or was pushed) into the swimming pool, and since this is one of her trauma triggers she locks up and almost drowns. She is saved from drowning by a boy named Knox. Else realises that Aiden's entire reason for being drawn to her was this plot for revenge against her, so she wants nothing to do with him and refuses to be a pawn in his games... but Aiden doesn't like that at all...

𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨:
There is so much push and pull between Elsa and Aiden, but inevitably it is the same thing that we've just been reading. It feels almost like the story progresses really, really slowly and there isn't really a need for this book because Aiden is very much still possessed with thoughts of Elsa, he is obsessed with her, and he still wants to own her. He is a little bit overbearing, and he keeps forcing himself into her life. He also teases her with information about her past and because she wants nothing more than to find out what happened to her and why she has suppressed these memories and blocked off everything, she just follows him around like a sick puppy. All in all her relationship is Toxic.... but yeah I still couldn't look away.

I love Elsa's relationship with her best friend and the amazing found family element. The fact that Elsa is able to get so close to the rest of the four horsemen and that they start to treat her like one o their "tribe" was super cute.

There is quite a lot of drama and angst but it does feel like not much happens in the story. While it's easy to speculate about overall what happened with all the hints and nuggets there were twists and turns in this that I did not see coming.

This book and writing are addictive. These characters are addictive. There is just something in Rina Kent's writing that draws you in. If you can look past that all her men feel like carbon copies of each other, acting the exactly, having the same characteristics, the same tendencies, the same jealous obsessive behaviour and cannot stand another man BREATHING on their girl.

From a dark romance perspective, they're brilliant book boyfriend material (if you are into that kind of thing) and I cannot wait for the next one: Twisted Kingdom.

Okay so we finally got Aiden's POV and the dark romance is romancing at last.
Elsa continues to be annoying af when she refuses to accept what we all know, and she chooses delulu every time and that is not the solulu, girl.
But I like it better than the previous one, and the snippets of Astrid and Levi were nice. I like how you can see the other stories starting to intertwine.
The mystery got really interesting and that ending was a masterclas  in cliffhangers.
And, of course, the smut continues to do the smutting pretty well.
So... I'll go grab the next one, thank you very much.

Elsa's story reminds me a lot of Astrid's. They are both running from their pasts and trying to start over. However, Elsa's wasn't entirely her choice. Her mind split everything off so she would forget; it was just how she protected herself. I'm curious to see how their story will end in the next book because, in this one, she started working on herself to try and remember her past. Meanwhile, Aiden remembers it all, but he still loves her. He wants her but goes about it in the worst way possible. Every time they start to make some light way, something comes in and blows it all up again. Then, the way this one ended! It was just pure chaos, and I don't know how they returned from this!

Despite the spice scenes in this getting a down thumb from me, and despite it not being very well written in places, this book actually has a really interesting and mysterious plot which is gradually unravelling. And for that it gets three stars.
Check trigger warnings before reading because this second instalment of Aiden and Elsa’s story still features non/dubious consent and the narrative covers some dark plot points. Overall I am enjoying the story though.
