I read this novel in an hour and a half uninterrupted. Since my library has owned it, it's constantly been checked out by a variety of students. My male students, especially, have been asking me to read this novel for a couple years. I finally got my hands on it yesterday and couldn't put it down. I look forward to reading Alexander's other novels.

Wow. This book was incredibly powerful. I read it in one sitting. The verse and story are really moving — highly recommend.

Such a cool concept to write a whole story in lyrical verse. It felt like a series of poems that all tell one bigger story. Great pacing, great MG storyline, and love that it was centered on basketball! Makes books and reading so much more accessible for kids who may not enjoy “traditional” storytelling!

Not a bad read! As an an aspiring author myself, and a fellow verse novelist, I can truly appreciate the concept of mixing all these different verse types together! Very well written! I'll will definitely be keeping an eye on Mr. Alexander in the future.

UPDATE: I am now a Self-Published Indie Author who also writes verse novels/Verse Thrillers. Mine are less slice of life and more fun, and full of magic, and excitement! One's that allow the reader to escape reality, and enjoy the story. So far everyone that reads them really likes them. If you're looking for a more magical take in a Verse novel I recommend you check out my books on amazon. I promise you won't be disappointed!
