If you can make it through the triggers and initial taboo, this is a unique love story that will stick with you for all the right reasons. Everything written had a purpose and never was used as a prop or just shock value. I applaud Jennifer Hartmann for masterfully toeing that line in order to share this beautifully traffic and harrowing story.

So there's dark romance and then there's DARK romance. This is the latter. The author did not take her foot off the gas when she wrote this. I personally skip trigger warnings so I genuinely don't remember what they said/if they were in the book but I urge anyone who is on the fence to look at them before you strap in for this. I think Dean is what made this story for me. There is minimal love in my heart for Cora and even less for her sister.

This was a very good, but challenging and dark read. Definitely check the trigger warnings because it was tough to get through. I was very attached to the characters and it had me feeling so many emotions throughout the book. It was hard to put down but also I needed to take breaks because of how heavy it was.

An unexpected 5 star for a horrific tale of trauma, heart break, and healing. Tragic events that change the lives of several people and their steps to try and survive PTSD.
