More like 2.5 stars? It's a semi-clever mystery with semi-clever characters. And I noticed half-way through that it's the second of a series, but no big deal. Come for the thinly disguised Sarah Palin hatefuck fantasy, stick around for the wikipedia entry on sharks.

I liked "Beat the Reaper" but couldn't get into this one. I'm in a picky period.

Should have listened to the other reviews. Nowhere near as good as Beat the Reaper. The premise was contrived and it was very predictable.

This was more crass than the first one, didn’t have as much cool medical stuff and lost the mystery solving part too. It was like having a book character go on vacation to somewhere. It would have been nice to get some closure on some of the lines from the previous story instead.

A strange homage to Scooby Doo.

Compared to the first book, this one ... sucks. It’s sucks. If you loved Josh Bazell’s first novel Beat The Reaper for its medical knowledge, detailed emotions, and hitman aspect, you will be sorely disappointed with Wild Thing. It briefly mentions the above, then forgets about it. It seems that Bazell is viewing the series as a series about protagonist Pietro Brnwa himself and all his “adventures” in witness protection rather than him being a doctor and former hitman.

I had to listen to this on audio while I was driving just to get through it. It was painful.

Had to buy it after finishing beat the reaper and becoming emotionally attached to pietro. I mean, yeah you can tell he's written by a man in these early 2000 years but anyways I'm so happy that the thing they're looking for at the expedition isn't what it seemed at first. Really would've ruined it all. First book was better but oh well. Also, that footnote on page 124-126....why

1 word... disappointed. In no way did this book live up to the first in the series Beat The Reaper. Half the time I wanted to put it down and move onto something else, but I kept on with the HOPE that suddenly Josh Bazell would capture what he had in Beat The Reaper... WRONG. This book seemed like a pointless plot that had nothing to do with anything connected to the first. If a third is written I honestly think it would take several of my library friends to tell me its AMAZING before I would even consider reading it.

Parece menos una secuela de la primera y más un pastiche de ideas que el autor quería juntar y no hayaba dónde hacerlo.

Enjoyed this sequel to Grim Reaper. Lengthy epilogue indicates Bazell is a well-read guy with strong (well-informed) opinions about things. An enjoyable (and funny) suspense novel followed by a large helping of political commentary for dessert.
