More than halfway through I just couldn't stand the racism anymore. It started to get to the KKK and it was basically propaganda to Support the KKK's actions. Gross, not for me, I don't have the patience for this right now, and I suspect the ending isn't worth the torment of continuing to read.

I am at a loss for words at how to exactly explain my thoughts and feelings of this book so this review might be all over the place. There are things I absolutely loved, and things that were incredibly difficult to like. It was so beautifully written. The picture is all so clear and well thought out but why did it have to end the way it did?! More than anything this book is more about tragedy and hardships than romance in my opinion. And the romance in this book…I personally wouldn’t even consider it romance…Especially with the way Scarlett treats her relationships.

I will say that my absolute favorite part of this book was anything that had to do with Melly. She is actually so sweet and I would love to have a friend like her.

Hmph, I was ready for the book to be racist, but not for it to be boring. Three chapters and all it has to offer are descriptions and exposition.

Maybe it’s just a poor timing on my part — I did love this book when I read it as a kid — but I really can’t do it just now.
