It was fine--started well, but bogged down in the middle. As others have said, Greek Mythology meets the Hunger Games.

Lore was a good book but fell short of being a great book due to its predictability. The premise of the novel, essentially a hunger games for the gods every 7 years, is very fascinating, and the author did a good job of weaving the mythos around this “god hunt” into a modern world layered with modern understanding. The feminist undertones were a really nice touch, and I think essential for a book that takes place in a world that glorifies male leaders/warriors and subjugates it’s women. I also loved the fact that there was no “chosen one” trope (or at least that it wasn’t as on-the-nose); Lore is just a girl in the right place at the wrong time and she realizes she has to do something to end the vicious cycle.

Bracken took the ages old, over told, and predictable Greek mythology and took you instead on a journey of healing, self discovery, and adventure. Political twists and unlikely alliances, follow Lore as she struggles with who she was and who she is meant to be.

I loved this book. Definitely a 5 star read for me. It was so refreshing to take the classic elements of Greek mythology and rework them in a story that hasn't been told before. Bracken tells a tale full of twists and turns and I could not put the book down.

Overall an interesting plot, but it was a little too YA for me. Basically I don’t view reading it as a waste of time, but could’ve lived life without reading it.

No sé.
