This was a really good one! Super creepy and satisfying! The ocean is a very scary place to me, so that definitely added to the creep factor. I give it 5 crusty lobsters

I'm sad it was so short.

This book is recommended everytime I try to find good ocean horror, and I'm glad I finally picked it up. While ridiculously short, it really hit all my ocean fears and transported me right out into the middle of the water. I don't know if it was the cover, or my experience with other ocean novels, I went in expecting some sort of fantastical species or large beast as so many ocean horrors tend to gravitate towards, but I was pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of this one. The author took an averagely mundane real world sea creature and said "huh, I can make that scary". And did.

My only minor issue is the over use of the word "piss" and all the early references to bodily functions. I got it, folks pee, had to pee, need to pee. Once the action picked up, that fell away and it was well written.

I would put this somewhere between Nick Cutter's The Troop and a bit of The Ruins - Scott Smith. Good bits of body horror, but it's over so fast you dont get to dwell on it until after you've finished reading.

I enjoyed it, especially as my first foray into body horror. This book had me actively squirming where I sat, the imagery is incredibly vivid and disgusting.
