It took me a bit to get into this one but I blame that on the momentum dying from waiting so long to read this after I finished Daughter of the Moon Goddess. I really like the fast paced flow and how there is constantly action happening. I also enjoy the author’s visual descriptions, it really immerses you into the fantasy realm! Sue Lynn Tan has easily become an auto buy author. I had a feeling

Xinglin was going to end up with Wenzhi and I’m so happy they did!!

📖
I had a wonderful time with this book. I liked the pacing and I liked the plot. The characters were fun and I liked their various relationships. Though I didn't care for the  love triangle.

I read this in less than a day, immediately following the The Daughter of the Moon Goddess. I'm here for a complicated love triangle, but this one didn't do it for me. 

I feel like Wenzhi's rehabilitation in this book was unearned, but perhaps that was because his betrayal in the first book was surprising to me, and perhaps unearned? I did shed a tear for the minor character deaths.
