[ immediately listens to psychopomp after finishing the book ]
a narrative of grief, identity, coming of age, and love, served over a comforting bowl of jatjuk. the honestly is especially compelling — no holds barred, even in remembrance of zauner’s mother. lovely, lovely memoir.

Crying, laughing and filled with nostalgia for my own mother’s cooking as I read of all the delicious foods in this book. Although hard to read at times it is full of life and will make you appreciate all the small moments you share with others

3.5, rounding down, because I almost quit. A tough sit when my own mom was just diagnosed with a second round of the same cancer that killed her sister. Absolutely worth a read, but be thoughtful about your timing.

Parts of this book made me very sad, other parts happy, some parts were a bit funny, but this book also made me very hungry. Michelle writes about food beautifully but her emotions are just as powerful.
