I've read all of Dan Brown's books and was excited to read this one on a recent trip. I did not like it was much as I did "Angels and Demons" and the "Da Vince Code".
What I did like - the historical aspects, the mystery, the fast pace of the book, most of the character development.
What I didn't like - the repetition of the Noetic science and "collective conscious" sections. It felt as if the author was trying to get his point across about this philosophy but it didn't feel succint, but repeated to the point that I was no longer interested in this part of the story.
Overall, an enjoyable read with lots of twists and turns, but repetitious.

I am disappointed with this book. I could not warm up to Robert Langdon, and I wasn't even picturing him as Tom Hanks. Has he always vehemently denied that something could be possible, then after a sentence or two of explanation, accepted the new idea readily? He did this over and over. It would have been a better story with out Robert Langdon. I felt great relief when I though he was dead.
I did like the symbol stuff and the Washington D.C. history. I even think that Dan Brown has shined up the reputation of the Masons, so good for them. But the ending... yuck!
Overall, a fair way to pass the time, but I'm not recommending this.

Only Dan Brown where I thought the plot twist was obvious.

The Goodreads star system is not the correct judge for this book. It gets one look of bewilderment on a scale of "Why did I keep reading this?"
