The author of this book is SUCH A HORNY PERSON. STOP. Every single page talks about either sick nudity, sex or penises... surely, it went well with the main character of the book who is really horny as well, but it was too much.
As for the plot, it was good, but kind of basic. However the book talked about some really serious and important themes, which I really adore.

Fast read, well written, a bit of fun vulgar language and scenes but the ending was lacking. Meh. Not horrible but not brilliant, either.

The first word to describe this book is twisted. The people are twisted, the humor is twisted, and you'll be laughing out loud and hoping nobody can tell why. You will witness character growth that you never thought possible. And you'll encounter the funniest exchange about James Dean ever written. This is not middle of the road fare, and it's certainly not attempting to sugar coat...any topic it touches on. But it's wry and damn funny and ... twisted.

This one's got a lot of great ingredients -- interesting characters, outrageously pulpy elements, some great set pieces, Lansdale's usual sharp writing, dark humor -- but it doesn't really go anywhere interesting, or add up to much. Lansdale lays out the gothic/noir tropes with panache, but doesn't subvert them in any real way, or make from them something new.

Yuckaroo! It's an impressive feat to write an entire novel where the protagonists are entirely unlikeable and despicable.

A good turn of phrase in here but overall a pretty stale plot.
