Fun light romance. With there was more time spent on the water, but our MC was frequently seasick. Easy, quick read with ace able language and great LGBTQIA+ rep. Would recommend as a good in-between deeper reads.

This book was so fun and I absolutely loved the characters - the only reason I’ve dropped it by a star is that the ending felt really rushed compared to the first half

- A gorgeous cover. (*chefs kiss*)
- It’s good so far. Garret seems like a cool brother and I like Shay. Kest seems cool too.
- Tal is sweet. It’s obvious he cares a lot for others. Athlen is sweet and funny. Dara is cool.
- Tal cannot catch a break. Let breathe, bitch. Do not think like that babs, you are wonderful.
- Athlen is great. I love that he’s a mermaid.
- I wonder if his family thinks he’s dead now. But he’s just cuddling with his mermaid bf.
- Dara is great. I hope she gets compensated.
- The scene behind the curtain at the inn was amazing.
- Poor Emerick. Didn’t know nothing of what was going on. Vanessa and that shifter suck. Poppy’s a bitch.
- Garret and Kest are amazing. Ida seems like a bad bitch. I expected more of a welcome from the mother tbh.
- I want to know Athlen’s bargain was. I really hope he fucking stays. That garden Tal showed him is perfect.
- Jesus Christ. Legit thought he would die for a moment. Haha.
- Sea Witch seems like a baddie. Poppy’s gone so that’s good. Garret is an amazing brother.
- Athlen’s alive and the bargain is changed and Garret doesn’t have to marry for politics and Isa and Emerick are still together and Kest and Shay get married everyone is really happy.
- The fluff is immense. I’m feeling great. Wonderful book. Really really great.

i want to like fantasy so bad but it just doesn’t do it for me. though this is a YA book, it was painfully YA.
i found the plot to be predictable and the character development wasn’t suuuuper remarkable.
the thing i did enjoy about it was the LGBTQIA+ representation — they way it’s incorporated in the story is organic and doesn’t feel shamed or forced like it does in other fantasy books.
