this was so fun. I'ma sucker for Gotham-based heroes and female crimefighting teams and this book delivers in spades

Paul Dini's fast-paced plots worked well for here less. Seeing the sirens go on relatively low-stakes street-level adventures like facing off against Doctor Aesop or Hush. Dni and subsequent writers Tony Bedard and Guillen March do a great job balancing mystery-of-the-week style plots a solid character work. Seeing the girls walk the line between heroics and villainy is compelling and leads to some great character moments. I especially liked seeing moments of Poison Ivy's conflicting villainy and humanity

I will say this first volume builds off of the back of Paul Dini's heart of hush storyline. and while the story provides you with enough context to understand what's going on it does reference those events in detail.

The friendship between the girls is also well rendered. While these three aren't particularly affectionate the stories convey mutual respect and fondness between the three that feel natural and compelling. I also really liked the unexpected friendship the three (well mostly Selina and Harley) have with newly reformed riddled. The pocket of grey hero he four make up is an interesting one to be mined here.

The friendship between our girls was also delightful to read

The art from GGuillen March is [pretty solid throughout. The action is consistently dynamic and the character design, in general, was fantastic. I especially loved Jose Villarrubia's colouring throughout. His work had a matte quality that added a nice texture to the designs. I will say this comic walks the fine line between tastefully depicting its female heroes and shameless cake. while it, for the most part, stays tolerable a handful of the panels in each issue vers a bit too far on the latter

Gotham City Sirens gave me precisely what I needed it to. These fast-paced adventure stories were the perfect blend of compelling plot superhero action and charming characters I can't wait to pick up the next volume in the series

I enjoyed Ivy and Harleys storylines but was not a huge fan of Selina's. It felt like Selina was the main character and the other two were just there for background.

In an effort to cut the crap like it's never been cut before, I'll jump straight to the fascinating moral of this Super Crappy Super Non-Review Crappy Non Review (SCSNRCNR™):

Gotham City is definitely not for me. Kick-Ass Villainous Chicks Only Cast (KAVCOC™) or not, I DO NOT like Gotham Silly City. I DO NOT like its OTT characters. I DO NOT like its silly super heroes. I DO NOT like its ridiculous super villains. I DO NOT like that all women in this story have the Pathetically Clichéd Thin Waist Huge Boobs Big Ass ARGH I Think I'm Gonna Shoot Someone Look (PCTWHBBAAITIGSSL™). I DO NOT like a single shrimping thing about this freaking comic. Which I DO NOT like because I wanted to like it because Paul Dini and because Paul Dini = Madame Mirage and stuff.

The end.

See? I can do short and to the point when I want to.

I do try, my Little Barnacles. I do try. It's just that I'm not very good at it. Which is quite surprising considering I was born talented.

P.S. Alex, I still love you. I think.
P.P.S. I'll let you in on a little secret: I did not like this. You're welcome.

As fun as you'd expect when Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn start hanging out together. There's plenty going on the keep this fast paced. Catwoman's still reeling and faces a new threat from someone close to her heart. Harley's still having plenty of man trouble and Ivy's balancing work and her friends. The addition of the Riddler adds spice to this equation.

I love these characters so much, and really love how they work together. The concept of the three working together and living together, trying to work to be better and less evil/villainous is really interesting, but this creative team is just NOT GOOD. Each arc is literally just someone copying a villain, starting with the Riddler (an interesting addition as a main/minor character to the Sirens) and going to others based around the Sirens. It's the same plot over and over again, and when the new creative team comes on it gets SO much better.

This was a lot of fun, I love these ladies so much and seeing them being there for one another kicking ass, and taking names is always a delight.

Oh man, that was so much better than I expected and I had pretty high hopes. Makes me want to read more about Catwoman and Poison Ivy.
