WOW, this was a fantastic novel. I could not predict where it was going at any moment. Beautifully told through a number of perspectives, and beautifully narrated in audiobook form.

This is my favorite book! Since the first time I read it when I was 13-ish years old, I loved Daniel and every character Ruiz Zafón created in The Shadow Of The Wind. Makes me cry with joy over how beautifully written it is.

I love a book-themed book and the premise of the story was intriguing. In many places, I enjoyed the writing.
However, there were a few things that bothered me: 1) The perspectives were off at times. Characters were revealing information that they couldn't have possibly known. 2) Large pieces of the mystery were often revealed conveniently by characters in long narratives. 3) While the sex scenes made  sense from a characterization pov ...I didn't think they were necessary to further the plot nor did I think they added anything to the understanding of the characters.

Stunning novel, Gothic Spanish haunted houses, twists and turns that I never saw coming (and I'm so good at guessing), tangled love stories and a book to protect at the center of it all. Gorgeous and moving and had me sobbing at the end of it.

A good story, but written a too much as a recounting. Would love the narrative to play out through characters, not stories told by them.

My all time favorite stand alone. What a book!!!! At every corner there's a jaw dropping twist. I cried I laughed I went into shock. This is the perfect book to get yourself out of your reading slump. Just amazing!
