i don’t even have words to express what i’m feeling right now or what i felt while reading this book. it just seems so inhumane how the whole world is ignoring what has been happening in Palestine since 1948, it’s a documented genocide and no one gives a shit. my heart ached so bad throughout this book because while this is fiction, it is pretty much real. everything in this book has probably happened and will continue to happen because while i’m in my bed crying while writing this review, palestinian people are suffering and there’s nothing i can do to stop it.

i hope i live to see a happy Palestine, because even though this book was heartbreaking, there were some parts where you could really feel the Palestinian joy and the happiness that is inherent to its people.

free palestine always.

This book is as timely now as it was when it was published in 2006. Mornings in Jenin is a powerful look into the lives of Palestinian refugees. This multi-generational story shows and tells the reader about the struggles and celebrations of the Abulhejo family. A wonderful portrait of life and death, this book was one of the best books I've read this year about anything.
