Beautifully written and so so depressing. Nesitikėjau būti įmesta į tokį niūrumą, bet įklimpau. Įprastai tokių knygų vengiu ir toks rašymo stilius man visada knygose prailgsta, man jis geriau susiskaito mažesnėmis dozėmis, bet autorė meistriškai viską sudėliojo. Ir nors prieš imant knygą tikėjausi visai kitokio tono, istorija buvo skaudi, purvina, liūdna, bet svarbiausia labai reikalinga.

Tiffany McDaniel's novels are literary marvels. Her works are always poetic, deeply moving and full of empathy and love for her characters. On the Savage Side is no exception. Her characters are well fleshed out and multidimensional. You can't help but fall in love with Daffy, Arc and Mamaw Milkweed and you're rooting for them, knowing all the while that tragedy and evil will eventually find them.
Catherine Taber does an incredible job narrating the story. She truly makes the characters come alive and her narration enhances an already exceptional novel.

I loved Betty - could not wait to grab this new release from McDaniel.
First - thank you for writing a story that must be heard. We must have more women's stories; we must change the narrative - inspire our cultures to protect their women, their future.
Inspired by the Chillicothe Six, McDaniel gives them a voice - we MUST LISTEN.
Arc has carried the women in her life always - her mother and Aunt Clo, her group of sisters on the street. Dual timeline - showcasing Arc's beginning and end.
Addiction has a start - childhood most often the catalyst, abuse in the dark. Violet's began with the birth of her daughter - a prescription from her trusted dr.
Harsh. Brutal. A MUST READ. Poetic. Gentle as the river.

Like The Summer that Melted Everything and Betty, Tiffany McDaniel's writing in On the Savage Side exquisite. Only she could turn the savage story of rape, murder, neglect, abuse and drug addiction into something beautiful. I loved this book. "In life, there is a savage side and a beautiful side."
