For the UK the 6th climate change committee carbon budget is much more relevant.

Everyone should read this book if only to get an overview of the seriousness of the climate change problem as well as what is being done by businesses and governments to plan for a warmer planet. Gates doesn't have all the answers, and a few times he sounds like he's quietly promoting a few of the companies he's heavily invested in, but overall he paints a sobering, realistic picture of what the world is facing and how we can mitigate the sure to happen disasters that will increase as the decades pass by.
The book is well thought out and very readable, even if you think you're no sort of techie or climatologist.

While it gives a decent overview of the climate crisis in terms of carbon emissions, a lot is focused on this at an industry level that a personal consumer cannot control. And he writes it all while being a billionaire and not ever mentioning the role his mega companies play in terms of waste and emissions. Well written and easy to follow, with good information to supplement your environmental learning, but for me, it’s all taken with a grain of salt considering the author.
