M Train is so humanising of Patti. It portrays her living a solitary life in between gigs. Morning in her favourite coffee shop, evenings watching police dramas, to which she is addicted. Always writing, but often on scraps of paper. Lovely poetic mind and a sense of magic.

this is less of a memoir and more a collection of musings and thoughts. a window into the poetic, intellectual mind and life of Patti Smith.
though I typically lean towards science and history heavy non-fiction books, I found M Train to be beautiful in its simplicity. and it had the end result that any good memoir should: I felt that I truly knew the author better than I had before I read it.
