The book blurb sounded interesting. Sadly enough this book did not impress me. The basic story is not too bad and the writing itself is acceptable. The major problem I have with this book is that it plays out too much like an American TV-series. It is a rather unbelieavable ride of conspiracies, twists and changes of fortune and rapid scene changes. Personally I never really felt like I cared very much about any of the characters.

To make matters worse the author also starts to meddle with time. He does not go as far as time travel but both slowing down time when going from one room to another and hibernation is on the menu. The result is an increasing mess of people suddenly being different persons that actually lived in a different time as well as the story partly advancing months by the turn of a page.

To me the author replaced effort that should have gone into thinking through the details of the story and coming up with a compelling implementation of the basic idea with simply throwing as many Hollywood clichés, Nazis, messing with time, conspiracies on top of conspiracies etc… into the mix and shake well.

Maybe the book is just not my cup of tea but I am not impressed with it and I will probably not bother reading more books in this series.

Expecting More

I liked the overall premise of the book, but it seemed to have urgency with a long payoff(ish). It started as an action thriller with hints of sci-fi, with no flip of the two at any point.

Enjoyable Sci-fi

Nothing ground breaking for the sci-fi genre, although I do like some of its concepts. A thoroughly enjoyable read. Characters seems to have a nasty case of plot armor, but still fun regardless.

Intricately woven mind candy for those that love a complex plot with lots of action! This book is a really good read. There are multiple things going on that at first I couldn't imagine how they would all come together, but they do. Those who stopped in the middle because of complexity completely missed out. Cool surprises I didn't see coming! I didn't care for the romance part, but it does not take away from the story or get intolerable. The suspense kept me turning pages. It ends on a cliff hanger and I can't wait to start the next book! I marked the pace as steady, but the last half the pace is fast.

I made it three quarters of the way through this book and could go no further. The plot sounded good, but this book is poorly written. This book reads like the script of a low-budget film you’d find in the bargain bin at Walmart. Super cheesy. At one point the author refers to a man walking into a room as “a short fat bald guy” or something along those lines. If you’re looking for quality, look elsewhere.
