In Gwen &Art Are Not in Love by Lex Croucher, newborn Princess Gwendoline (not Guinevere) was betrothed to two-year-old Arthur. Growing up, he teases her, and she breaks his wrist, but the primary obstacle to a royal wedding is that both are gay. The story is set in a post-Arthurian England where the king (Gwen’s father) represents the Catholics and Art’s family belongs to the cultists (followers of Arthur Pendragon, Lancelot, Guinevere, Morgana, and Merlin). Some hope/imagine the wedding might unite these two factions. Unfortunately for Gwen and Art, the two factions are already united by homophobia, and the royal couple is closeted. A delightful queer medieval rom-com for teens and young adults.

♡ Rom Com
♡ Royal Fantasy Vibes
♡ The Lady Gets the Knight (but make it Sapphic)

I loved the humor in this book.  The way the characters interacted was nicely done as well.

When I read this I wasn’t in much of a mood for it but pushed through and ended up really enjoying it.  The plot wasn’t too confusing as some fantasy books can be, but this kept my interest.  It was such an entertaining read.

And the queer rep was better than I was expecting actually.

Okay so I LOVED this book!! Like it was just so so so much fun; the banter between the characters was hilarious and charming and I found myself rooting for all of the relationships in the story! I also enjoyed how Arthurian (??) myth was tied into the story without being too overbearing.

There are two really big gripes I have with this book. One; the audiobook is kinda awful. I really only like Gwen’s voice actor, Arthur’s was grating and had no clue how to emote without making everyone sound like an airhead. It really dampened what could have been great lines with a different actor.
Problem number two was the crazy abrupt onset of gore and violence in the last 25% or so of the book. Obviously, there’s conflict bubbling from the very beginning but the way it explodes and suddenly everyone has life threatening injuries and is dying all at once… it’s jarring after all the cute flirting and light relationship angst.

Besides those things, I had a grand time with this book and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a fun romance read (who doesn’t mind crazy gore right at the end).

There is nothing I could possibly say against it, it's actually perfect. I ran out of tabs marking every time I laughed.

I loved this book so so much!!! The romances were so cute and well written and the plot too!!
The twists and turns this story had?!?!? Also it was so funny xD
A cute queer camelot romcom! xD
Would 100% recommend!

The only thing that threw me of a bit in the beginning was the modern language, because the book plays in medieval times, but I got used to it quickly.
