A tough topic, but Dr. Hayhoe is a joy to listen to. I aspire to have as much empathy, patience, and hope as she does.

This book left me feeling hopeful and like the seemingly small things I do still matter among the big picture policy changes we need to transition away from fossil fuels. Highly recommend it.

This is the best book I have read this year. Climate change is something I care a whole lot about, but I have felt burned out and hopeless for a while, and that has paralyzed me. This book gives me hope and concrete ideas. Highly, highly recommended.

Such a good way to talk about climate change, make me realize that no one is perfect, and how we can have conversations every day about how we can save our planet

This book puts forth the argument that the best way to advocate for the climate is to show people in your groups how climate change already affects the things that they are passionate about. By having discussions about why you’re scared about climate change, and by connecting with others, you’re able to be a better voice to solve climate change (as opposed to having heated arguments). Draw attention to the problems, but also bring particular attention to the solutions. The latter is the key to avoiding apathy and spurring change. This book is a great introduction to climate change geared towards the general public.

Much of what I read related to climate science is alarming, concerning, and downright depressing. This book however, also incorporates hope. I learned a ton about various organizations around the world that are making progress toward climate goals and found these stories to be inspiring. I feel more empowered to have conversations about the climate crisis with my network and have a stronger sense that the small amounts of activism that I do can make a real difference. I feel more motivated and inspired after reading this book. I will say I was surprised by the frequency of Biblical references in this book. But I greatly enjoyed learning that the author is a Christian and reading about how her values as a Christian and a scientist align and complement each other. I often have a sense that most conservative Christians are climate science deniers, so it was refreshing to read stories of how she connects with this demographic and finds commonalities in their values. Overall a great read and something I’ll probably continue to reference.
