I am so sad to rate this one 3⭐️, I still absolutely adore the Jenna Morgan series and I fall for the characters a little more with each book. Jenna & Mason’s friendship & work relationship is absolutely perfect, and I feel like Jenna becomes a little more human and a little less robotic with every book.

But there was something missing from this one that the others had. I can’t quite put my finger on it, it may be that we always knew “who done it”, but I also felt that the drugs story in the first half of the book went on too long. I know it was central to the overall plot, but this story didn’t have all the strings coming together like the previous two.

The ending was also incredibly sudden. I would have loved more about Jenna overcoming what had happened to her, especially her reunion with Adrian. I know this is a police procedural, but don’t give me a love interest for a main character and not expect me to become invested!

This book has to have one of the best opening chapters I have read this year. Was not expecting it at all. Shocked me. Jaw dropping. It did its job and full on dragged me in questioning everything. Hooked. Drawn in. Gripped...
It is book three in a series which I only found after while writing this post (oops) but read really well as a standalone and I will be going back to the previous two books. Brilliantly written, a real page turner I didn't and couldn't put down. I wanted answers.
I felt sorry for Poppy! Poor girl. DS Jenna, I loved her. She wasn't letting anything pass her by she wanted to know the truth and she wasn't going to stop till she got it. A very determined and strong woman. I can't recommend this book enough. One to add to your lists. Highly recommend. A well deserved four stars from me.

Suspenseful and thrilling. Saxon had me listening to this (I listened on audible) every chance I got.
I didn't realize until a few chapters in that it was part of a series and now I can't wait to read every single one.
Jenna Morgan is a delight to follow and her team perfectly compliments her

The very beginning of this book was the actual crime, so you know the whole book what happens. You're just waiting for the police to catch up to what you know and for the end to see how it's going to finish. The middle felt like a lot of waiting. There was a ton of details in the middle that ended up not mattering at all. I know it's part of a series, so maybe the next book focuses on some of those details, I don't know. The lack of police work related to this case bothered me. If a whole family is killed in what you can tell is an arson, wouldn't you investigate them? Like, even a little? The police just ignored this case until the very end. They didn't bother looking into the family or anything. I liked it, but the middle felt long waiting for something we didn't already know about.
