Another great story in the Diamond Creek series. Travis and Janie were always meant to be together they just hadn't found each other yet. I love that the characters from earlier books make appearances and tie the stories together.

This is yet another book in the very scenic Alaska village of Diamond Creek where the other books in this series are set. This book is Janie and Travis’ book.

Janie has some issues holding her back from being willing to let herself be loved by anyone. Although she has a lot of love to give and has adopted a teen age foster daughter. But she is afraid to get into a relationship and allow herself to be loved.

Travis is what you expect of an Alaskan born man - an avid outdoorsman and willing to do what is needed to survive in this northern clime. Travis is the one to pull Janie out of Kachemak Bay after a boat she is riding in starts to go down. And the sparks strike and Travis can’t seem to get Janie out of his mind.

The story between Janie and Travis is a well written and very believable. There are bumps and twists in their relationship as they move from getting to know each other to over coming not only Janie’s issues but some that Travis has as well.

My only compliant about this book is that Janie creates some wonderful sounding dishes in this book and I honestly wish that the recipes for them at the end of the novel. I am hoping to find a good recipe for the Alaska salmon pie that Janie makes in this story.

I did receive a copy of this book in advance in exchange for a fair, unbiased review. Not that I hadn't already planned to purchase this book since I like the series.

An example of how I really need to get better at letting books go. Most of the time reading had me in copy edit mode, longing for a red pen -_-

Another cute Christmas read. I like Janie and Travis and I loved Stella! She added a fun quirk to the story. Definitely predictable, but also perfect for this time of year!

Christmas Nights by J.H. Croix is A Diamond Creek, Alaska Novel. In this story we are introduced to Janie and Travis. Janie is a school teacher who has a teenage daughter that she fostered and then adopted named Stella. Like Janie, Stella has a bit of a rough past. Janie crosses paths very closely with Travis when her and her daughter are out in the bay when Janie’s bow starts taking on water and she ends up in the frigid water. Travis rescues her out of the water and then goes to check on her while she is briefly in the hospital. There is a spark of attraction between the two of them from that point on and it develops into more. Janie is very guarded because of what happened to her mother when she was younger and also what happened to herself as well but her attraction to Travis is hard to deny. When Travis’s friends see how he is smitten with Janie they quickly know that this isn’t some fling thing going on between them. Now it’s just up to them, Travis and Janie, to realize what they mean to each other.
In Christmas Nights I really love how the author takes the time to really make the characters so believable especially since they are living in Alaska and so she makes sure that they know the ins and outs of living up there concerning the conditions that they have to deal with that can change at any time from no snow to over a foot of snow. While this story isn’t centered around Christmas you still get a really strong Christmas feel from it. I really enjoy the dynamics between the characters. You get to see Janie deal with her issues of whether she will let Travis close and into her heart or whether she will push him away from her and her family. Plus, a piece of her past comes back around and it just adds to the story overall.
Christmas Nights is definitely a Christmas story that you’ll want to read especially if you are a fan of J.H. Croix’s Diamond Creek series (though this story is a stand-alone). This was the first book I have read of the Diamond Creek series but it is one that I definitely enjoyed and almost had me wanting to go and visit Alaska myself just to experience the beauty of the place because of how well this story was written. This story will have you believing in love and dreaming of it for yourself if you’re like me and waiting on that perfect person to complete your life. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and two thumbs up. I really enjoyed it.

I usually love this author, but this book just didn't do it for me. It kind of meandered along through a new relationship and then ended. There wasn't a distinct conflict besides the heroine being reluctant to trust men.
