 I loved it!

I already have an unhealthy obsession with the witcher (not from the Netflix show but from the video games) and this does not help with that obsession. I would have to say the first season of the witcher tv series is very similar to this first book and I am happy for that.

This book is an amazing introduction to Geralt and his relationships with the people we all love. I cannot wait to read the next book and feed this unhealthy obsession even more.

Basically fine collection of short stories. The world is a touch more interesting than your classic sword and sorcery universe, but otherwise I couldn’t detect what it was here that triggered the birth of a video game franchise and Netflix series.

There's probably something out there on the internet about ideal reading order for The Witcher, but I don't think starting with the prequels is ideal. I was also working at a disadvantage because I haven't watched the Netflix adaptation. I certainly plan to give this series the benefit of the doubt and plan to try reading Blood of Elves (which I'm given to believe is the actual book 1 for this series?) and see if I find that more compelling but for me as someone new to the series, The Last Wish didn't really draw me in or engage me beyond a very superficial level.

There are 2 mentions of Rape in the book so beware of that, not as much fighting as I thought there would be in the book but loved it none the less. Loved watching Geralt grow from his experiences in his adventures. Was a little jarring getting used to the flashbacks and figuring out that it was in fact a flashback. Loved the book can not wait to start the next one

There are 2 mentions of Rape in the book, as someone that gets Triggered by stuff like this I will leave a detailed Spoiler review so you can watch out for it. The first account of a Rape scene is on page 67 (of the Mass Produced Paper Copy) and is written as ‘The lads overpowered the priestess and stripped her, then said I had to become a man. Well I became a man, stupid little snot snot that I was, and while I was achieving manhood, the priestess spat into my face and screamed something’ I consider this Moderately graphic for an Rape scene. The second is very Minor to me, on page 127 (Mass Produced Pass Copy) and is written as . Other than those I don’t remember any other scenes or mentions in the book
