Honestly I am just so glad to have finally finished this book after 678 days of reading it... almost two years. That's insane. Suffice to say I was to tired of reading it and I just wanted it done. Just didn't connect with the characters as much and it was just fine honestly. Happy to cross off another series.

I finished! Whoop, and guess what? I really liked the conclusion and frankly the whole trilogy. Is it perfect? No.

But it's dark, it has a charming sense of self, and I thought overall the characters were really interesting while being distinctly individuals.

We finally get the conclusion and some answers as to the larger world and magic upon this land, there's some political maneuvering, but I do think the politics were a bit weak compared to what I would usually prefer. But I'm chalking that up to being more on the YA/NA age demographic spectrum.

I didn't particularly enjoy how the interpersonal conflicts were written in this book. If you know you know, I just think it was unnecessary and it didn't add anything to any of the characters. If anything I think it cheapened a few moments from earlier books.

I have rated the entire Trilogy four stars at this point and I think that fits for this book as well.

I'm devastated I finished this series - when starting book one, make sure you have all three on hand. I did not want to pause between volumes.
The return of much loved characters - and shadows return for this final installment. New characters as well - Mia struggles to form a bond with her brother, Jonnen refuses all of it. A ship and crew - pirates and their king. A return to The Red Church.
Mia must decide what her destiny is - the path the Dark Mother wishes for her or revenge for her slaughtered family and friends.
The imagery. The poetic destruction and gore. Very well done.

Such a perfect way to end this amazing trilogy!! I cried a lot but I regret nothing. Mr. Kindly: I love you!
