Wow! Both Samuel and Rey (Andrew and Reign) DESERVE happiness. They both had pain and so much heartache. They had been through so much, every imaginable thing too. I'm glad they found each other!

I love a broken man finding love and here we have two of them. The story never seems to lag, taking you on a ride right up to the final chapter. Might have lost half a star for the face fucking incident because, despite what I've just said about broken men, I did have an eye roll moment at that point and wondered how many more bad things could (a) happen to stop these two guys from being happy, and (b) have happened in one man's past.

I would be demanding Sky's story next, but having already read the blurb for the next book, I know that it is coming *happy sigh*

Liked it very much. Good characters, believable plot, just enough angst. A.M. Arthur doesn't disappoint :)

Wounded MCs who find healing in each other

I really enjoyed this book though it started slowly so it took some time to get into it. Samuel and Rey are both deeply wounded and guarded but the author conveys this, and their journey to love in a way that is not maudlin or depressing.

I’m not a big fan of the slow reveal with the constant references to a bigger story. It took too long to get there which diminished my enjoyment of the book a little.

Everything in this story felt forced and I couldn't bring myself to care about any of the characters.

Re-Read – New edition – no major changes I could see

I love this book, it’s not perfect but it just gives me pure enjoyment.

I liked that both of the guys come to the relationship with their own set of issues. And lot gets thrown at the guys. It seems every time we turn around something is triggering one of them.
I feel for Rey as life must feel like a never ending tunnel that he just can’t escape from. Choices were made and I really can’t blame him for the choices he made, I believe I would do exactly the same thing. But with the lemons life has given him, he just gets on with it. Until it comes crashing down, you never really hear him feeling sorry for himself.

Sam’s issues are hidden so very well by his easy going attitude. He uprooted his life to make a new one away from his painful past and I applaud that. He has his routines that help him focus and keep control of his life. I understand these as subconsciously I do a number of these myself.

I loved seeing the guys work their way around each other and get to know each other.

I look forward to continuing this series

3.5 This was a slow going story, but I liked it well enough though. Second chances story with LOTS of juicy angst. It's all fun and games until...

This book has so many of my favorite things, someone nearly feral after to much loss, someone massively protective and gentle at the same time, a beautiful old house needing work to live again ... Had there been a cranky cat too I'd want to live in the book.
I love stories about hurt people learning to heal together, and communities, and families (those we are born with, and those we make).
All those elements (except for the cat) are in this story and combined beautifully. The author's deft touch brings the story together in a way that is fulfilling and joyful.
