August 2022 re-read
An absolute pure delight.
I was forgetting the beautiful genius of this book, so it was most certainly time for me to read it again.
And what a perfect time, indeed. Everything feels a bit wretched right now, my life feels like it's slowly falling apart and each day is a struggle, but here came dear old Lizzy, and moody Mr. Darcy, and the whole cast of lovable, chaotic, crazy characters, and made me smile again. This book soothed my tired soul and poked holes of cheer into my fog of gloom. It saw me through some long, sleepless nights, and made the miserable days a little less miserable.
Bless you, Jane Austen, you incredible woman, I love you so much.
.
Just want to make a quick note, that as much as I love all the characters, I daresay Mr. and Mrs. Gardener are the true heroes of this story. xD

I'd been forcing myself through some less than challenging books for several weeks, when I suddenly realized that I had not read anything by Jane Austen. So, to take a break from what I had been reading, I picked up Pride and Prejudice.

Although it was a bit slow at times while I read it, the book was great. I could feel myself getting acquainted with all of the characters while I read. The plot line was intricate and well thought out, the characters well developed. When I look back on it, I could see why there were areas, and their purpose for the faster paced ones. There were so many new ideas that I hadn't thought about before.

The characters were willing to admit their faults, and I loved that. The fact that the author knew her protagonist wasn't perfect, and her antagonists weren't horrible, was great. No one is all good, or all bad. With the exception of Jane and Bingley, maybe.
