Fantastic book, very dark and twisted with a strong female protagonist - it was a very strong piece of writing as Cathy made a compelling narrator, Corinne and the Grandmother made sinister antagonists, Cory and Carrie stood out as strong characters despite their age - which you rarely see in novels with young characters.
The relationship between Cathy and Christopher was shocking, but understandable as it was born out of abuse and trying to survive and it was also dealt with delicately and made for an emotional love story. I highly recommend this book, it is a MUST READ.

dark, emotional, and challenging are hardly strong enough to explain the feelings it gave me to read and man was it good. intense, mind the content warnings, but I am definitely glad I read it
Graphic: Child abuse, Child death, Confinement, Emotional abuse, Incest, Physical abuse, Sexism, Sexual assault, Grief, and Death of parent
Moderate: Suicidal thoughts
Minor: Vomit

this book took me almost a month to read because it was so much more heavier than i expected going in. i hesitate to re-read or even recommend it because it gets brutal and graphic especially towards the end. certainly an experience.
