Not the worst offering in the world of UF, but very light on character development and a few "and then this happened" plot points.

I really liked this book. The sexual tension, the betrayal, the new beginning. Coming into your own. Very good read!

This book was okay for a first book in a series, I was hoping for more from some of the characters and less from other but I guess I'll find out later why there is a lot of focus on them. Unlike other books this one started out with my full interested and than the story seemed to slow has it went along, but I'm still looking forward to seeing how the story evolves with events and character interactions

It was okaaaay. I liked our girl and the world was interesting. However, feelings weren't really felt and I just dislike Ethan so so much.

Not the best first-in-vampire-series-ever, and the idea of vampires recently coming out to the rest of us has been done in the Southern Vampire Mysteries, but this series intrigues me in the way that it introduces the possibility of alliances and grudges between vampires and other supernatural creatures, not just other groups of vampires. I'm a little annoyed that a woman who used to be a medieval scholar gets bitten and is suddenly a warrior--been there, done that, what's wrong with being an academic? but I liked Merit in general. Will keep reading.
