Me gusta mucho la mezcla que ocasiona la Ucrania postsovietica y la tristeza que esta presente en todo momento y el absurdo de la situación. Quizá me falla un poco la segunda mitad, noto que el ritmo se pierde bastante y que ya no atrapa tanto como al principio, pero aún así es una buena novela.

Wat een toeval dat ik dit in m'n kast had staan, zomaar ergens gekocht omdat de tekst op de achterkant m'n aandacht trok. Heb met plezier 'Picknick op het ijs' gelezen. Het valt totaal niet in de genres die ik normaal lees, maar dat geeft niet. Het verhaal leest makkelijk weg en bleef me verbazen bij elke bladzijde.

I suspect that one needs to know more of Ukraine's political history than I do in order to truly understand anything that is happening in this novel. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it. We share a sense of humor, this novel and I, if not quite a sense of context.
