Even though I did not love this book, this was a more interesting version of the two narratives. I liked reading the Beast's background.

I thought this might have a little more to offer than it did. The illustrations are lovely, and this will be fun for Disney-loving reluctant or struggling readers, but it didn't add to the story like I thought it would based on the title.

I was given this manga for Christmas and I love it. The cover of this book and Belles tale match when they are connected. Which is one of my favorite things. I also love that they are in full color;however the best part is that this book tells the story from the beast’s perspective. I always love when someone can flip the story and let you see the other side. Their was a story someone gave me that was about Snow White from the evil queen’s perspective that I just loved. This book was very similar to that. It was so good that it almost felt too short. If you like manga or Disney this book is just as much for you as is was for me!

The art in this version of the story was just as beautiful and whimsical. I liked it a lot even though it wasn’t as color and “popping”.

According to me Beast’s part of the story was a lot more intriguing and interesting than Belle’s part. It was nice to get to know him a little better and read about his feelings as they evolved for Belle.

Like in the first book I felt like this was a bit rushed. Some more details could be added and smoother changes between scenes would have made it easier to understand that something new in the story was happening.

Thank you to NetGalley for the review copy! Even though I got to read this for free this review is a 100% my thoughts about the book.

This is the second part of classical “Beauty and the Beast” story told from the Beast’s point of view! (see my profile for the first part) The colour scheme continues in the same colour schemes and there are pages which overlap with Belle’s story making it so relatable! Again, the manga has 160 pages of storyline which is also easy & fast to go through.

Special thanks to NetGalley, TOKYOPOP, Disney Manga, and the author for giving me the opportunity to review the ARC, and to you, my reader, for taking the time to read this honest personal book review.

I actually thought this was better than Belle's Tale, in terms of both the flow and artwork. I loved having the Beast's POV and insight into his childhood, especially since this is a mostly untold perspective.

The use of a darker colour palette in contrast to Belle's more vibrant tones was also a clever touch. While both books might have the same scenes, Belle's Tale uses subtly lighter shades. Meanwhile, The Beast' Tale retains the same dark colours until towards the end.

An enjoyable and creative adaptation!

Thank you to Netgalley, Tokyopop and Disney Manga for an ARC of this book.

Disney Manga: Beast's Tale was based on the live action movie instead of the animation that came out in 1991.

To be honest, this one was more interesting to read compare to Belle's Tale since we rarely see it from Beast's POV in the animation or live action movie.

Unlike the warm and bright color we see from Belle's Tale, Beast's Tale was have darker and cooler tones of color for the art illustration portraying how he lives his life trapped in a curse which slowly change when he got to know Belle.

Although, I have to admit I've seen same scenes from Belle's Tale since I've read that one first before reading this. It might feels repetitive at some point, but I don't really mind it since I love seeing the stunning art.

Overall, this is a wonderful and beautiful manga illustration of beauty and the beast. Seeing it from Beast's POV and how the tone of art portrayed the Beast's emotion is a really nice touch to the story.

“Her sympathy makes me feel deserving, worthy. Like I can be better. She makes me feel like I can change and, more importantly, she makes me want to.”

If you want to pick this up, make sure to pick up the Belle's Tale too in order to read the full story of this fairytale.

Actual rating: 3.5⭐

Thank you to Netgalley, Mallory Reaves and TOKYOPOP for granting me this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Telling the story of the Beauty and the Beast from the two different point of views of the main characters - I find the idea exciting. The two books work pretty well together, and not only because the cover pages complement each other and make up one image.

The colour palette, the dynamics, they all reflect the different personalities of Belle and the Beast, and you'll have to read both stories to get the whole picture. The visuals are strong, with a telling style, but I felt the dialogues clumsy here and there.

There is a useful tip at the end of the books on how to read manga (from right to left, from top to bottom, like Japanese writing), which would have been good to know prior to reading the stories. Well, we learn as long as we live...

Many thanks to NetGalley and Disney Manga / Tokyopop for this Advance Review Copy.
