It was ok. Just ok. Not poorly written, just didn't grab me particularly. Dragged a bit.

Hurray, it’s a heist!

Set in the same universe as the Shadow & Bone trilogy, the majority was right - I liked this a lot more! The switching POVs, especially during the heist scenes, kept the story very engaging. As is the case with books told in this format, there were certain characters I cared about more than others and so some chapters slowed the pacing a bit for me. However, by the end I was fully invested in everyone which means they did a good job with character development.
I love the twists and turns of a prison break, especially when characters are one step ahead of me and reveal after reveal occur. The cliffhanger ending had me laughing and excited to read the next book. While definitely part of the fantasy YA genre, Six of Crows would be a fun read for any fans of the dystopian teen fiction trend of the early 2000s.

The plot of this book is interesting but what really makes this book great is the characters and their development. I love that you get to see what's going on from each characters POV in their chapters. All of the characters have amazing qualities and you can't help but fall in love with them even though they happen to be a gang of criminals. The hint at love interests are there but definitely not in the forefront, it's all about camaraderie and friendship.

This book was amazing!! I have no critiques; I literally did not see ANY of the plot twists coming. I had initial dislike for a lot of the characters but I became emotionally invested in all of the main cast by the end; the found family trope gets me every time. Can’t wait to read the sequel!!

Wow, dug this way more than I thought I would, given that I ended up being lukewarm about the Grisha trilogy (which you don't have to read to enjoy these, but definitely enhances the experience). I enjoyed the tangential world building, where you got to see more of the world that she started in her previous trilogy. I thought this was more tightly written. Didn't love the ending, but as I know it's a series I guess I'll reserve judgement on the resolution till the second book.
