“We make decisions based on what we think is right at the time, and those consequences can follow us, but they don't govern the path we're on forever. It's what we take from that experience and how we allow it to impact the choices we make as we move forward that mean the most.”

I know that I've had mixed reactions to her books in the past, but I had hopes for The Good Luck Charm because I really liked the sound of the blurb with the hockey element and a second chance romance. In the end, there were things that let me down and made me enjoy the story less than I thought I would. I still like the hockey element and how it focuses on the superstitions of the players and how they all have their pre-game rituals. BUT. I can't say the same about the second chance romance. It can be a great trope when done right, but in this case there is no slow building up of the relationship nor does Ethan have to work to gain forgiveness for his past behavior at all. It's basically all hormones and Lilah finding him 'too hot to resist'... Which was SO frustrating as I always hate having a pushover as a female character. Ethan also didn't respect her at all and kept pushing himself on her; Lilah basically putting her life on hold to accomodate him. Ugh. The sheer amount of steamy scenes and the constant repetition of their physical attraction got old fast too, but it was mainly the failed second chance romance trope and the way both main characters behaved that prevented this story to be a success for me.

Another amazing read

This book kept me up until 3am it was that amazing!! I was sucked into another amazing hockey romance from this amazing author and I’m not complaining one bit!! It’s a second chance love story that will have you hot and bothered with the steamy scenes and all swoon with they romantic gestures throughout the book. It’s definitely a story that I will reread when I need a pick me up!

This was... okay. Both characters kind of annoyed me a lot, but the resolution was good.

Just couldn’t get into this one. The characters weren’t super appealing. I liked the fact that they were young lovers who’d found their way back to each other. I liked how the heroine ended up standing up for herself and her needs, instead of falling into fulfilling the needs of a man. I liked the dynamic between the heroine and the family of the hero. The plot twist for the heroine seemed rather out of left field. Overall the story was okay. Didn’t love it but didn’t hate it.

The Good Luck Charm is nothing short of fantastic! This book had Helena Hunting written all over it and she nailed it with this second chance romance!

Ethan and Lilah have known each other almost their entire lives, and like two pieces of a puzzle, just fit together so perfectly. Everything about their love was perfect and sexy, the two of them were complete fire. But when Ethan’s love of hockey sends him to the big leagues, their relationship comes to a crashing halt. A number of unfortunate incidents bring Ethan and Lilah back together, and it’s truly tough for Lilah to move past the heartache and see what could be.

The Good Luck Charm captured my attention from the first page. Angst, love, sexiness, redemption and most of all, friendship, were just some of the emotions that poured out of this book. Ethan and Lilah were beautiful characters who showed what true love is. There is nothing better in this world than finding your soulmate <3

3.5 stars. I wanted to like this book. Out of all the Helena hunting books I’ve read thus far, this one fell flat for me. I was excited for another hockey romance because this author does hockey romance amazingly. This was also a second chance, friends to lovers and I was super excited to read it. I’ve genuinely enjoyed and loved the other books by Helena Hunting I’ve read. Her narrators are usually amazing. However, this book just didn’t work for me. The female narrator (Stella Bloom) was amazing as always. Lance Greenfield is a new to me narrator and I wasn’t impressed. It felt like he was refund to be breathy and intense at the same time and it just didn’t work for me. As for the romance, it felt more like a codependency than a love story. I will definitely pick up more of this authors book. The rest of her catalogue has been so so good so far.
