I really enjoyed this one, a solid addition to the series! I liked that the killer tattoo concept carried on through this book. I honestly didn’t guess the killer, though in hindsight it is a common kind of killer.

There’s a killer on the loose and our main character has to find it before another innocent woman gets killed.
An intriguing story where an interracial young couple has to face the horror of her being deadly assaulted and he’s the one to blame for it.
It’s not always easy for the detectives to solve a murder case when the press and social media are given a leaking story and also to battle with personal issues as family and friends.
Great writing, compelling characters and a must-read story.

A solid police procedural thriller. I hadn’t realised that this was a sequel to an earlier book. There were a lot of references back to the former novel - which mean that I wouldn’t go back to read it.
Some twists and turns and the method of murder was an unusual one.

I really enjoyed the first installment of the series and was thrilled to discover the second one at my local library.

It was not quite as nerve-wracking for me as the first one though. It was great to get back to Sullivan and Mullins and the book almost reads itself, but some of the passages were unnecessary repetitive.

Still, this is a gripping thriller and I love the setting Alison Belsham creates. For me, it is appealing that the setting is within the world of tattoos, and not just another "drunken detective" story, even though Sullivan has lots of reasons to enjoy his whisky ;)

I will definitely be around for the 3rd book and check to see if my library might have it in English.

Her Last Breath is the second book in the DI Sullivan series and an absolute belter of a read. There is enough background in my personal opinion for this one to work as a stand alone if you haven’t yet had the pleasure of reading The Tattoo Thief.

The murders are quite horrific in the story but boy does it make for some compulsive reading. I wanted to turn my head away from the horrors unfolding in front of me, yet the authors writing had me hooked and unable to tear my eyes away from the pages.

Crime stories really don’t come anymore complex than this. Nothing is straight forward. Poor Alex is being torn in many directions in his personal life as well as being a suspect in a murder case. I really felt sorry for this young man who seems to be misunderstood by everyone.

You can feel the urgency throughout, with the pace and tension getting turned up a notch the further into the story we go. The climax was pretty much breath taking as I didn’t dare breath as more peoples lives come under threat.

Her Last Breath is an adrenaline fuelled read that had me clinging on for dear life. I couldn’t devour this book quickly enough as I was desperate to know who the killer was. I really enjoyed the first book in the series but by heck, with this one, the author has knocked it out of the park. Absolutely loved it.

My thanks to NetGalley and Trapeze Books for a readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

I think that after reading and seeing a lot of criminals and thrillers, I was left with the belief that nothing else in this field would be able to impress me enough or leave me in disbelief — although all kinds of works that arouse curiosity and thought are my favorites—, but again, shamelessly, I was totally wrong!

The book was presented to me by Bertrand and as soon as the offer of this book was placed, I felt immensely anxious and curious. After many thrillers and criminals that became immensely famous both in the literary world and in the cinematic world, and the majority of the Portuguese population targeted by these books having grown up watching “O Clube dos Cinco” or any other type of Portuguese series that involved investigation, I may as well say that we have a certain attraction to criminals and a fascination of not losing a bit of the history until the real culprit is revealed.

I grew up like that. I ate these stories at lunch more than I ate what was put on the table and I'm glad I grew up with a more curious spirit than not exactly keen on something specific until I entered the famous time of self-discoveries.

Reading this book brought me the exact same feelings I had when I was a child and dreamed of finding the culprit or investigating the clues or being one of those people who could see beyond what was presented to them and have the intelligence and skill to find clues. Now, as an adult, inculcated in me the curious, roguish and defiant spirit that was to discover the real tattoo killer before the revelation in the book.

I can't just credit a childhood well solidified in a natural and latent curiosity. The reader may be the most curious person in the world, but if the book and the author do not know how to captivate and addict the reader on every page, then success will be null. What happens is the opposite. Alison stirred me and my emotions and my curiosity with every page and new chapter. I never thought I would spend so many hours without stopping to read.
