This is one of the best books on prayer I've read, and it's so very practical. Family life stories, transparency, and helpful charts make this easy to read. This second edition has specific tips for making and using your own prayer cards, including pertinent Scripture verses/phrases to use in praying for yourself or others. This is a book that works its way into your own life, with lasting change for Christ's sake. A great book to follow Timothy Keller's book on prayer, and also Donald Whitney's "Praying the Bible."

Possibly my favorite book I’ve read this year! God is our Father - what a privilege it is to come to him continually in prayer as His children.

I love the personal stories, it helps me apply the authors lessons. Want to try his prayer card method. Will listen to this repeatedly to help my prayer life and faith in general.

Probably the first book I have read that is almost exclusively focused on prayer. And I am glad I started here. Paul E. Miller describes prayer in simple to understand yet deeply profound language. What I loved most about it is how much he focuses on Jesus, and the lifestyle of prayer that he modelled. Jesus was one with his Father, and shared everything with him in prayer. Paul, tells of how his own prayer life has helped him to become aware of the Father and to see God weaving his story into Paul's life. He also shares practical tools, that aid the believer in cultivating a regular rhythm of prayer.

I was surprised that much of the book is devoted to the acceptance of suffering and how God might use it to deepen our inner beings and mature our relationship with him. I think this ended up speaking to me most powerfully, due to the loneliness and isolation I experienced during lockdown (Covid-19). God used it to speak into my situation and to help me see how, through suffering, he has been weaving his story into my life.

A fantastic book to encourage you in your prayer life. I savored the truths and encouragement in this one.

The author has a daughter with autism and I have two children with special needs, so I could really relate to his honest thoughts and encouraging truths regarding prayer. No matter what your situation or struggles in life, this book offers tons of truth, encouragement, and practical strategies to help you incorporate prayer in your busy life and to help you stay focused while praying.
