First book by Zakiya Harris that I have read...and I will be back for more. Only getting 3 stars as I would have like to have more, but I know it is only a novella.

This series Getaway, is all short stories billed as psychological thriller. I would actually only consider one a psychological thriller, a few are mysteries, and two are more lit fic. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to these over the last few days while I did chores and cooked. A few of the authors I was already familiar with but I did find a few more authors to check out from this series which is a plus for sure.
Uncharted Waters by Sally Hepworth
This centers around a woman going on a cruise alone when her husband has to back out of their anniversary trip at the last minute. She meets some people on the boat and conquers a few of her fears. She also learns something new about both herself and her husband.
His Happy Place by Zakiya Dalila Harris
This is a story about a woman who is in a new relationship. She and her new boyfriend are spending some time in his cabin when she starts to have weird dreams.
Stockholm by Catherine Steadman
So, this is the one that led me to this series. I am a Catherine Steadman fan, The Family Game was a thriller with such a good plot that I immediately mentally added the author to my 'must read more' list. When I saw that she was involved in this series I immediately grabbed them on my kindle. Stockholm is a story I want the full version of. It follows Olivia who used to be a psychiatrist but is now under a conservatorship with which her husband keeps her trapped. They are spending their anniversary in the remote north of Sweden and she hopes to use this as a chance to escape. This one ended with a slight cliffhanger. You can easily fill in the blanks with what we were given but I would LOVE to read the continuation of this story.
Belle Mer by Luanne Rice
In this short story, we follow Clea. She is renting her old family estate in Newport. It would have been hers but for her senile grandmother's lawyer. He somehow tricked her grandmother into leaving the estate, the money, the furnishings, and even her grandfather's briefcase all to him instead of Clea. While she is in Newport she plans to confront Steven but she cannot seem to find him. This one was pretty slow at the beginning but picked up right at the end. I would probably be interested in this one if it were written as a full-length novel because I enjoyed the author's writing style and Clea.
Catch Her in a Lie by Jess Lourey
This one is split and follows a woman and her daughter, and the two cops who are following them to Costa Rica. Van and Harry, from the Minneapolis police, are tracking the mother-daughter pair because of their connection with a serial killer. I won't say anymore because I wouldn't want to spoil any of the twists as there are a few. I would read this as a full-length novel too.
Shell Game by Rumaan Alam
This one follows an extended family on a vacation. Twins Rachel and Geoff are married with children but still keep a close bond even though they do not live close. The twins, their spouses, and their four children travel to a resort to spend some quality family time. Mark, Rachel's husband, doesn't know his brother-in-law well but he's about to know him much better by the end of this trip.

I thought the central hook of this story was good, but paranormal elements don't do it for me, so this one did not work as well as I'm sure it would for people who enjoy paranormal themes.
