I enjoyed this! I find the main characters endearing and I really like how the cooking aspects of the manga reinforce the world-building. As the characters learn how to hunt creatures and how to cook them, they also learn about the biology and the behaviors of said creatures. I also really liked how the manga touches upon how different cooking techniques and methods of food cultivation affect the taste of certain food ingredients. As a foodie, these details please me immensely.
While the manga is lighthearted and cozy, I like the fact that the characters end up butting heads over minor disagreements. While the conflicts are never heavy or prolonged, they actually make sense for the characters and are not silly arguments with obvious solutions. I appreciate this a lot because I feel that some writers of cozy stories avoid conflict between the characters out of fear that conflict will ruin the cozy vibes.
Definitely planning on continuing this series!

Moderate: Animal death, Death, and Violence
Animal death: this content warning refers to the deaths of the fantastical creatures the party members kill and cook in the story. Some of them have physical characteristics that are similar to real-life animals (ex: the basilisk looking like a combo of chicken and snake). Other than that, there is mention of dogs dying as part of aputtingwingsonwords's review against another edition

'Delicious in Dungeon Vol. 1' by Ryoko Kui is a food focused manga that details how one adventuring party prepares items found in the dungeons into delicious meals. It starts out with a good amount of character building and then transitions into slower chapters, each centered on a meal that the group is creating. It's really creative and I love how Kui creates recipes out of the common (and unique) items found in dungeons. I'm excited to see where the story goes next in Volume 2.

A charming manga about a group of intrepid adventurers who lose a member of their party to a dragon but are determined to save her! With the loss of all their gear & most of their money, the team is too broke to buy food after they restock their most necessary dungeoning supplies. However, the leader of the group believes that he can scavenge enough food from the (admittedly weird) items growing in the cave & from the monsters that they kill. Fortunately, they meet a competent dungeon cook who takes them under his wing & teaches the group how to use the natural resources of the dungeon.
I found this book to be a little on the slow side but I still really enjoyed it! I want to read the rest of the series.
