I want into this book sight unseen based on very high recommendations.

I loved this book. For spoilers, please scroll....

I knew that Gus was dying. I don't know why, but I just did. I loved the way he loved Hazel.
He was perfect for her, I'm just glad she realized before it was too late, it nearly was.

Definitely made me cry. Great book.

a super heartbreaking novel ..
i was really crying the whole time ..

description

i cried for Hazel Grace - because i feel really sad for her, in everything that she's going through ..

description

i cried in all the Hazel-Augustus moments - because they are just so perfect but the sadness and misery of their situation is always between them ..

i cried when Augustus confessed his love to Hazel on the plane - because i just can't help it and i felt the sincerity of his words ..

description

i cried when Hazel and Augustus finally kissed at Anne Frank's house and when they made love at Augustus' room - because finally, finally, everything is perfect between them ..

i cried when Augustus told Hazel that he had a recurrence - because i thought everything was all right but then, it was not ..

description

i cried when they were home from Amsterdam until the end of the book - especially at Augustus' prefuneral, and Isaac's and Hazel's eulogies because it was just so sad, and i cried when Augustus died because it was just SO UNFAIR,

description

i cried during Augustus' funeral and for Hazel's life AG .. and i cried while reading Augustus' letter to Peter, and i cried in the end for Hazel's wonderFUL words .. (I do Augustus, I do) ..

This book changed my life. I am not that the same having read it. I am so happy I took the time to read this book, and I am so happy with the beautiful word choice John green used! Those tears I shared were tears of sadness and beauty because this book ended so amazingly.

Many people on GR have spent way more time and effort on all the reasons why this book sucked, I wasted enough of my time reading it so I'm not going to waste more time writing an actual review but everything about it made me roll my eyes. Yes, it's about kids with cancer and yes, it's sad, but 16 year olds don't magically develop the ability to monologue with 35 complicated, philosophical words strung together in a single sentence, so there was no feeling of real connection with any of the characters. Hooray, lots of metaphors, but that just wasn't enough substance to carry the novel.
