Be careful about what you wish, it might not be a good thing for you.
Amazing story/ fairy tale, I wasn't really impressed by the artstyle but it was nice and went so well with this story. A good moral for all of us about beauty, also I loved how all the characters and how well developed they were mainly how Coddie's personality changed from good to bad to wiser but the ending felt kind of rushed but it was a good ending, something new and not what we all will be expecting like the usual.

This took so many turns, my head is still spinning 😐 Morue is a very ugly girl and is hated for it in her poor village. When she frees the evil fairy Mab from a curse, she wishes to be the most beautiful woman everyone has ever seen. Since Mab can't change her physical appearance, she makes everyone see her as beautiful instead.
And everything goes to hell. All the men who see her want her and go mad in the process. She flees from her village, only to ruin the peace between her country and the country in the north, since both kings want her.
And Morue doesn't know how to handle it. She ruins her village, makes her kingdom go bancrupt as the queen and nearly lets her new narcissim get to her.
Don't be fooled by the cover - this story is complicated, pretty fucking dark and twisted.

just as coddie’s terrifying beauty bewitched those around her this book has had me bewitched for years. ever since i first read it i think i revisit it at least twice a year.

it is such an expansive story that covers all bases and weaves back every thread in the story to completion. i really enjoyed how it ended. the art style is so beautiful and reminds me of the mysterious european cartoons that i stumbled upon at the library as a child.

the only thing that detracts from this story is
how much coddie suffered from the men who just wanted to possess her. like i don’t think rape is ever necessary in a fictional story sorry not sorry. also urkan and the queen of the north 😑…brotha eugh

france…you win this round…(i guess)
