Well written story told through many POVs. It was interesting to compare this to the movie, which was vastly different. This story was more unique in regards to zombie stories because it focused a lot more on the international politics of how the zombies were dealt with over years, vs being an action story. The audiobook was well done with the full cast, which made it more interesting to hear the different accents.

It's not a bad book, but I had a lot of trouble getting through it.

I just could not get past the collection of brief stories. I really need more meat and more character development in a book. This book jumps around from person to person during the war and makes it impossible to get attached to any moments or characters. Every time I would start to get really into a small portion it was over and onto the next experience.

This novel is definitely more than it seems. I picked it up and read it in only a few sittings. Looking back Max Brooks cleverly sucked me into a world where the dead have risen and humanity stands on the brink of destruction. However, the messages and commentary that exist on present day politics, humanity, and hope are couched within clear and concise reminisences from those that participated in the zombie war. For the hard core horror fan this is a good read, it is also a good read for anyone that can stomach a few desriptives deaths at the hands of the zombie hoardes. Altogther one of the best books I have read in the last few years.
