Heartbreaking that this kind of stuff actually happened and lives are forever changed, and often untraceable. Good accounting, story tying the historical to the modern and pulling them together.

I highly recommend this book. Historical fiction book about a topic I didn't even know existed, and now I want to research more.I could not put this book down.

I loved this historical fiction read. The actual history behind Georgia Tann is also fascinating!

Very good book. Very engaging and well-written. It explores really complex emotions and topics and I felt it gave a realistic portrayal of how a child would feel about the experiences within the book. Really sorrowful story and informative too. I give it 4 stars because sometimes I felt that the author waffled on about minor details that didn't matter very much.

Loved this book...a story line I didn’t expect and a piece of history we should know about.

I really enjoyed this book! It’s a dual timeline that tells the story of a family who was ripped apart. In 1939, the Foss children were taken from their riverboat parents while their parents were at the hospital. They were separated and adopted out to other families to wealthy clients who wanted to adopt children. Most had no idea about the corruption. I had never heard of the Tennessee Children’s Home Society before reading this, but hundreds of poor children were stolen from their parents for decades by this organization.

Loved this book, reminded me of Orphan Train. Terrible ripping apart of families and siblings doing everything to stick together 😐
