Pretty interesting though falling somewhat short of anything extraordinary. I think in reality there is not enough recorded substance to this story to justify a full book (resulting in a good amount of padding and clever storytelling in places) and it means it's hard not to doubt some of the wilder elements.

A truly brilliant tale of one of life’s maverick characters.
Not a massive book but packs plenty in, you can’t help but warm to the main character Maurice Wilson.
A fantastic piece of work from Ed Caesar.

This was one of my favorite reads of the year. How daring, this man? Inspiring is the least powerful to describe his journies, but also the ability to find reasons for excitement and cultivate wild ideas has been ever present, but perhaps far more so now.

There's a fair bit of speculation in this book, but the general sense of je ne sais quoi keeps it interesting. Would make a good "Inspired by True Events" movie.
