The first half was a bit of a drag but the ending was worth it in my opinion. I loved reading the differences and comparing what was kept in the show vs what was changed. In the end I prefer the  show overall and their version of Louis (because  book Louis is insufferable), but it was still an enjoyable read nonetheless.

Anne Rice ha uno stile sublime ma ha un grosso difetto: la sua narrazione è molto lenta.
Penso che ad una certa ho talmente sentito pesante Louis come personaggio da aver pensato che forse era meglio Lestat.
Dopo la lettura di questo volume mi è venuta un'insana voglia di farmi un veloce rewatch del film e iniziare la serie TV uscita qualche anno fa.
È stata una lettura sofferta che continuerò in tutta calma, anche perché sono davvero curiosa come continuano le vicende.

My 5 stars don't come from the readability of the book. It is a bit of a slog at times, but it's a gorgeous slog.

My 5 stars comes from the story, the complex characters, the depth into topics that are very disturbing (mind the content warnings), and an existential look at what being immortal really means.

That very much outweighs the slow going for me.

Started out so good! But as I got further in, I realized that the pace and storytelling had some problems. It could have been so much shorter. There were a lot of mini-plots without much of an overarching plot. I was confused as to why a lot of things happened. Including the pedophelia, what’s with that? Also, SPOILER WARNING: that dang vampire Lestat just wouldn't die! It was so frustrating. On a more positive note, the vibes were the best part of the book. It was so immaculately gothic.

Claudia as a five year old adds a disturbing layer to her scenes involving intimacy and violence, there is biting galore, property damage is imminent, and the complexity of destructive relationships (both with ourselves and others) is at the heart of the novel.

I was disappointed by how slow this book was. I enjoy the spinoffs/adaptations, but I did not enjoy this.
