I have not had this much fun reading an actual physical book in... honestly, maybe years.
That being said, parts of this might be some of the most atrocious things I've ever read.
In any case, it's greatly entertaining and I love being insufferably insane about it.

Louis my beloved, autistic coded Catholic guilt riddled queer icon who was married and divorced twice without ever even noticing bc he has not one single social skill beyond being polite, you will always be famous. Go send those insanely powerful narcissistic monsters into a downward spiral simply by being pretty and sad🫶🏻✨️✨️

Ok so I finally decided I was going to read this book when I finished season two of the tv series that is currently airing and knew I needed more content since it was so amazing. 

This started out really good for me. All the scenes in the first half that were set in New Orleans I really enjoyed and it was hard for me to put the book down. However, I felt less and less compelled to read as the book went on and I’m not entirely sure why….

Maybe it was the lack of Lestat 😂 

I liked Claudia a lot more in this than I did in the series and was disappointed in the lack of romance overall, but I did expect that to an extent.

The plot felt rushed in the second half, to me,

and I think, without Lestat, it was easier for me to grow bored with the plot.

BUT the writing was beautiful and that, I was not expecting! So it was such a nice surprise and was definitely my favorite part of the book. The setting descriptions were everything. This was the perfect atmospheric October read and I’m so glad I can finally say that I’ve read this vampire classic! I will definitely be continuing on with the series!

Anne Rice ha uno stile sublime ma ha un grosso difetto: la sua narrazione è molto lenta.
Penso che ad una certa ho talmente sentito pesante Louis come personaggio da aver pensato che forse era meglio Lestat.
Dopo la lettura di questo volume mi è venuta un'insana voglia di farmi un veloce rewatch del film e iniziare la serie TV uscita qualche anno fa.
È stata una lettura sofferta che continuerò in tutta calma, anche perché sono davvero curiosa come continuano le vicende.
