This books not bad. I like it in the end, but it bounces around so much its throws off the flow of the book.

Didn't catch my attention, didn't care for the protagonist, too verbose, art was too busy

More happens here per page than most comics except Watchmen could dream of: mutated robots, feuding spy agencies, multiple timelines, lots of queasy objectification, vibrant color and hyper pop art. It's derivative and bloody and weird and absurd and Michael Moorcock-esque and I love it.

Matt Fraction (Sex Criminals, Hawkeye), who already owns my entire life, wrote a book about a renowned thief and superspy who gets kidnapped across parallel dimensions and is forced to become a double agent, masquerade as himself and bring down his own family's secret agency, and then had The Umbrella Academy dudes illustrate it. I mean, I couldn't be more on board if I was physically standing on the deck of a ship. Just take all my money Matt Fraction, just fucking take it.

This was *such* a wild ride. Even when I wasn't sure what was happening (and that was more than a handful of times), I was having a rip-roarin' blast. It never tries to reassure the reader or ensure they're in on the hyperdrive kick, and I honestly can't tell if that's a strength or a weakness of this series, but there be few reads with better energy. It's all swingin', slingin', slangin' espionage through dimensions and timelines with plenty of sex, highs, and jive talk. It's so rambunctious and silly while shooting in all directions at once. It's so giddy to be what it is that you can't help but catch the thrill.

The art was pretty, but I just couldn't bring myself to care about the story. to be honest I DNF'd about 2/3 through. Its not particularly mind bendingly weird or out there either.

2.5 stars, but I'm not going to round up to three, because I'm not sure entirely how I feel about this. Some parts I liked, some parts were baffling and awkward, and some parts were just--well, there were a few things that characters did that didn't quite make sense with how they square at the end. I'm looking at you, Zephyr.
