i did not really like the ending but i did enjoy reading the book the ending just felt rushed i thought i was really going to like the book but idk i need some time to reflect on it
reflecting and watching some reviews on this book just makes me understand why i love reading it but hated the ending the process of reading it was fun and fast but the ending was too rushed like the parts just didn’t make sense how he knew where the gun was how he did this to alica but it was actually all the past including his wife cheating idk it doesn’t add up especially with all the people you learn about for no reason

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides is a psychological thriller about a woman who shoots her husband and then she becomes silent, refusing to talk to anyone. Alicia Berenson is a famous painter and she's married to a photographer, Gabriel. One night when Gabriel came home late, there was an altercation and he was then shot 5 times in the face. Criminal psychologist Theo Faber is determined to figure out the mystery to Alicia's story, he starts seeing her in sessions so he can unravel the mystery.

The story took too long to get exciting, I didn't care about any of the characters or the storyline until about 55% of the way through. I found myself not really caring about any of the characters until I was a little over halfway through the book. Things felt very slow and they didn't feel really thrillers like until halfway through the book. I didn't DNF this book because I was reading it so I could discuss it with a friend, if I had read it on my own I might have DNFed it for taking so long to get interesting.

That ending was really good! I was trying to figure the mystery out before the story told me and I could only figure one part of the mystery out. I was so surprised by the time I got to the end, I had to rewind the audiobook a bit so I could make sure I heard what I heard. That was such a good ending, I'm disappointed that the majority of the book was lackluster.

Overall, the novel was okay. I think it could have had more thriller like elements in the beginning of the story. The ending of the book was definitely a surprise, I didn't guess it at all! I'm giving this 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Such an intense and extremely thought provoking book! I was really wanting to read a good psychological thriller book, and I heard many good things about this one. The chapters are short, so it was perfect for me, as I often struggle with holding my attention for a long time if a chapter is boring. I love the author’s writing style, and I loved getting to see both Theo and Alicia’s perspectives. I knew there was a “twist” in this book, but no matter how many predictions and guesses I had, I would have never thought  it was going to go that way! I started becoming suspicious when Theo was following Kathy and watching a house. I was noticing how both Alicia and Theo’s stories were overlapping. However, I didn’t ever think the way he led Alicia to kill Gabriel would be like that. It was just a total mind f*ck moment! I felt for both Alicia and Theo by the end of the book. More so for Alicia though, considering that Theo just got to live his life after and not suffer like Alicia did. My only thoughts left would probably be, did Alicia ever have any mental health issues, or were they all constructed and manipulated by Gabriel and not wanting to get caught in his affair? It was noted that Dr. West treated her in the past for similar issues. I think he was just covering for Gabriel and his affair, sadly. Poor Alicia 💔

Overall, an outstanding book! It’s perfect for readers that love short chapters and also want to get into psychological thriller genre books. I will be thinking about this one for a while…

I hate the main character so much unfortunately.
The author is primarily a screenwriter and that is very apparent in this book. It reads like it wants to be a script for a movie rather than reading like a book. And I didn't like the movie.
