Lady Patience (improperly named) travels across the pond to the U.S. only to discover her intended dead. To pay for her passage back to England, she takes on 4 young American ladies with promises to marry them to rich lords. She books them passage on the Knave. Enter, the Captain, Gideon. Sparks fly. The book is quite predictable but what makes this a fun read is that Ms. Blair is funny. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments. Plus, Patience was strong willed without being spoiled or unreasonable. Gideon was alpha without being too domineering. It was just an overall fun book.

Terrific book! Full of humor and romance. Loved the characters. Once I started the book I didn't want to stop reading. Great writing.

DNF'D @ 35 percent.

The writing was good but I'm just not invested. I *might* try again in the future but for now I'm done.

I loved the start to the new Scoundrel Series by Annette Blair. This story made me laugh! It was complete and wonderful. I have read her other series The Rogues, and loved that one too. Can not wait to finish this one.

I really really enjoyed this book! There were different stories happening throughout with the main story being Grant and Patience but it did not seem to drag at all. I am looking forward to the others in the series!

It was a great story that pulled me in from the beginning. Overall a good read that I enjoyed and loved all the girls and their stories, but I was a bit disappointed that after all the steamy scenes before they got married that on the wedding night there was not a final full steamy scene that you would expect for a wedding night scene.

Ms. Blair did another great job with this novel. The dialogue was great. I could visualize the characters coming to life as I read the story. The only thing that touched a nerve with me was that the conversations about sex were inappropriate and disappointing. I was hoping Ms. Blair would leave it out of her novel. But everything else was wonderful. I'm not sure I would take the chance to read another novel, even though I love how she creates the intense scenes for dramatic effect.

Characterization is bland and incoherent, unjustified melodrama abounds. The romance and its obstacles alike are unconvincing. The beginning of the story felt like being dropped wholesale into the middle of a story and matters never improved. There's some humor, but it's no saving grace. Do not recommend.
