Book Two of the Renegades trilogy.

What did I like about the book?
I'm glad that Ms. Meyer fleshed out Adrian's character more. I found myself liking him much more than I did in book one, if for no other reason that I learned more about him in Archenemies. She did a good job detailing his motivations and his flaws. He became much more relatable to me.

I also liked the pacing of the book, although I admit there were times when it seemed like parts of the narrative could've been eliminated with no harm to the story. Often, I found myself skimming over paragraphs that I knew held nothing important for me to enjoy the book more.

What could have been improved?
I know that Nova/Nightmare/Insomnia is considered the protagonist of the book. I guess. I just couldn't find myself liking her. It may have been due to her misplaced loyalties or that too often she was just undecided on her life and the path she was taken.

One issue with the series in general is the lack of knowing what these heroes do when they aren't heroes. Do they go to school? Why are their families okay with them getting into dangerous situations against very powerful individuals? I would have valued some dialogue between Oscar and/or Ruby and their families. They went to some type of picnic or BBQ and that's it? No questions from parents?

Ms. Meyer wants us to REALLY suspend belief I guess when it comes to parents and families.

I still enjoy the superhero aspect of the book, but again... I'd like to see more of the public's responses to having these godlike people in their city.

Maybe I'm asking for too much.

I'm going to start book three just so I can say I'm done with this trilogy.

You know an author is good at her job when the well done writing hurts and gives you anxiety

Better than the first book so I'm rounding up. Perhaps I am just a sucker for a little bit of a sweet, cute shy romance. I really appreciated that she's keeping the secrets ongoing, I thought it'd be already revealed, but it def keeps it interesting. However, there was just some details that felt implausible/like holes.
