Love the hero of the story, McAllister. I remember the first time reading this book thinking he was my dream man. I enjoy Ripley for her no nonsense attitude but realize this book is just a stepping stone for the last book. Very much enjoying this series

Excellent story. The first one was my favorite, but I enjoyed this one too. Mac was an intriguing character and I wondered how well he'd fit with Ripley as I turned the pages. I love how Nora always puts everything together.

This series is so similar to Nora Roberts' Cousins O'Dwyer series that the story feel quite flat and uninteresting for me (as I read the other series first)
First, the witches (and yes, they are all considered that) follow the same quest of undoing a spell/curse put upon them generations ago, with the help of a romantic interest
Second, the characters (and even the order of their stories) are the same: first the 'outsider/new addition', then the 'fiery and strong' personality and finally the 'controlled/long-lost love interest' character.
I found the Cousins O'Dwyer series to be much more interesting and have a fuller storyline with more action and detail. I would definitely choose that series if deciding between the two.
This story felt a bit one-dimensional with little development in the actual plot (the 'quest').

I enjoyed revisiting this story a touch more than the first. I’d honestly forgotten a lot of Ripley’s book in this trilogy, so reading this one today felt a little like reading it for the first time even as pieces of the story came back to me. It was interesting to see how her part in the curse/prophecy would play out, that’s for sure, but I also quite enjoyed just seeing more of the other characters and seeing her relationship with Mac blossom.

Pros:
Too often main characters are made out to be perfect or their actions are deemed okay because they overall do good things. I enjoy that Ripley is real. She is flawed. She jumps to conclusions, she is jealous, she takes things out on others. At the end of the day she tries to do the right thing but sometimes it takes a little to get there.
Cons:
I understand taking the evil from Evan to a possession type situation with a new person but part of me wishes it was still directly connected and solidly in the physical world. Maybe a lawyer coming to try to go after Nell or an employee or the sister.
