I think I’m not a big enough fan of Constance Wu to have really been the intended audience of this book. It was fine. It wasn’t special. I had read an edited version of the chapter “Making a Scene” online and it seemed interesting and well-written enough to make the whole book worth checking out, but in the end, it was one of those books that only seemed to have been published because she’s famous. It irked me that she constantly said “I wish I could remember his name” and listen, I don’t have a hybrid Mercedes but every car I’ve ever driven in has had a button to turn off the stereo without having to open the door. I get it, she’s had her share of struggles in life and I don’t want to diminish them, but I didn’t feel especially moved to care about them from this book. Still, I think if you want to check this book out, you should definitely consume it as an audiobook because she reads it herself!

It's a good memoir. Didn't know a lot about Constance and it was good to get to know a little more about her background.

I really enjoyed learning about Constance Wu. Some parts of this book were hard to get into because it read a bit like a stream of consciousness essay which I could never get into. I rated it highly because I think there were a lot of things in here that are important and I felt such an emotional connection to Constance. Also, she read this book with a lot of emotion.

i went into this blind not really sure what to expect. i am familiar w constance bc of FOTB & CRA. but i couldn’t believe how similar in personality we are. i cried a lot throughout this book & it honestly felt like the therapy session i needed. some memories i completely forgotten from childhood coming to light that just makes so much sense now that i’m an adult. such a fan of this format with small essays & even when she did short plays it was so fun to read. i love constance & look forward to all she does in the future!
